LET A-LAW MAKE AN ANIMAL LAWYER OUT OF YOU!
The law relating to animals is a growing area of work, spreading across a wide range of subject areas, including-
Criminal law, Public and administrative law, Animal welfare law, Housing law, Veterinary law, European Union Law, International trade, Food safety, Farming methods, Jurisprudence, ethics and morality.
The UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW) is a charity run by volunteers, with a membership including barristers, solicitors, pupils, trainees, law students, para-legals and legal academics, as well as others with an interest in Animal Law, such as leading animal welfare organisations. No prior knowledge is needed to become a member. All you need is an interest in this growing area of work.
• We provide pro bono assistance to animal welfare organisations. • We provide lectures, on-line training, and podcasts, which can be used as part of your training plan.
• We carry out research and publish papers.
• We publish a regular on-line journal on Animal Law topics, with expert, peer-reviewed articles on the subject and we welcome contributions.
• We run and contribute to conferences on Animal Law and hold meetings in and around the Inns. If your chambers would be interested in holding a lecture on an Animal Law topic, we would be happy to help.
• We assist animal welfare organisations, Peers and Members of Parliament with the passage of Bills through Parliament, Parliamentary Petitions and debates on Animal Law and welfare matters.
• We have run Animal Law moots and writing competitions for students and can provide moot topics on interesting areas of law.
